The increasing ocean acidification threatens marine life in known and unknown ways. The oceans are acidifying at the fastest rate in many millions of years. The absorption of CO2 by water causes acidification. This is a natural process, which forms carbonic acid (H2CO3). The breakdown of the carbonic acid results in the reduction of carbonate ions (CO3(2-)). To make a […]
This video calls attention to how these important insects are being threatened. Modern agriculture’s bad practices are taking these essential and vulnerable insects to the brink of extinction.
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) is the best known and largest of the oceanic garbage patches but it is not the only one. Garbage patches are formed in what is called a gyre, a place where ocean currents naturally form rotating areas of water. These currents “suck” in floating and submerged debris, causing large accumulations of junk, mostly made […]
The Earth’s oceans are in trouble, in large part due to actions made by humankind. The human species has been using the oceans as a food source and a garbage dump for millennia. These direct misuses have taken their toll, but now, global warming is adding new factors to the equation. Four of the main problems facing the world’s oceans […]
We have been deeply confused for a whole year as this pandemic spread around the Globe. The end of it all is still unseen. Surviving Covid-19 has been a long period of fear and anguish, hoping for some miracle to happen and save all of us. The Covid-19 pandemic may not be over in the foreseeable future. All of us […]
The refusal to wear a mask and to form agglomerations seems to be a current affair in the distribution of Covid-19 nowadays. The ones who challenge the virus putting themselves at risk and infecting others should be held accountable. We read on any press platform news about people protesting lock-downs and against the use of masks. They were promoting rallies […]
“Baked In” Global Warming refers to the amount of warming that will occur due to the gasses (carbon dioxide, methane, etc.) already put into the atmosphere. This is also referred to by scientists as “committed warming”. In a recently published paper in Nature, scientists have determined that the amount of warming due to already released gasses will exceed the goal […]
Many of us question everyday the origin of a lethal virus which has taken thousands of lives and brought pain and despair to everybody all over the Globe. In every corner of the world there was an empty chair at the Christmas table and the joy of the season was taken away by a terrible pandemic. We listen to scientists, […]
In the middle of a pandemic emotions and reflections seem to be more intense than in other times. We develop questions in our mind about ourselves like what we really are, what is the role of our existence, no matter where you live in any continent!
Staying isolated, watching the pain of the ones who lost their loved ones, feeling small and helpless we devoted our time analyzing what is going on around the Globe.
During a lockdown, we wake up to the fact that we all belong to a whole, to the same planet and we find that anybody in any continent can observe and voice opinions about the latest events such as the Virus, Climate Changing, Global Warming and so goes on!
We are surrounded by uncertainties, fears, and doubts. What is Global Warming, is it a reaction of the Planet against the pollution of the seas, against the devastation of forests, against the growing use of natural resources?
We are in dark mode, looking around us, becoming more curious, waiting for answers that may not come, but yet all of us live on the same planet.
We are part of the problem because we make part of this as a whole and have the obligation to be responsible and responsive to what is affecting the Globe and work with the possible means in our hands to make it better.
So, it was in the middle of that, which was maybe the most difficult time in our lives, the center of the biggest sanitary crisis that we decided to voice our thoughts through a journal. This journal is a loner, it has no political ties or ideology, no pretension to be something bigger than it is, it is just the expression of something that has been looked at, but never seen from what is happening on our planet these days!
